Getting a Library Card

Who is Eligible?

All persons residing in  the Town of Kent are entitled to a Kent Library card, free of charge. Persons residing outside the Town of Kent, but within the Mid-Hudson Library System, may also apply for a library card if they do not already have a card through Mid-Hudson Library System.  Their library account will be coded to indicate the town where they reside, and their information will be sent to their home library.

Kent Library Card

To Apply in Person:

Request an application at the circulation desk. You must present photo identification with proof of your address. If your photo ID does not list your current address, you may bring in an official piece of mail to verify your address. In the case of a child having no identification, a parent or official guardian must be present and verify proof of address.

You will receive your library card as soon as the application is complete. You may begin checking out materials right away! Your library card can also be used in any library within the Mid-Hudson Library System.

To Apply Online (Self-Registration):

Patrons can register for a library card online, via the form below which quickly allows you to access digital content through Overdrive and Libby, and for Kent residents, Hoopla and Kanopy.

Once the form is submitted, please allow up to 3 business days for a library representative to get back to you with your library Barcode Number and temporary PIN.

You will need to pick up the physical card in order to check out items from the library. The card can be picked up anytime during regular library business hours, and upon presentation of ID and address verification.

The guidelines for library card eligibility can be found on this same page.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST BE A RESIDENT WITHIN THE MID-HUDSON LIBRARY SYSTEM LOCATED IN NEW YORK STATE.
