The Friends of the Library generously provide funding for the museum pass program. These passes allow free or reduced admission to some of the area’s most popular institutions.
Loan Period:
Museum passes may be borrowed for three days. Passes returned after the three day period will accrue fees of $5 per day. Renewals are not permitted.
Borrowing Eligibility:
Museum passes are available to Mid-Hudson library card holders. To borrow a pass, cardholders must be 18 years or older, have had a library card for more than 90 days, and have a current borrowing record with no current fines, overdue items, lost items, or more than three claims returned items.
If a person comes into the Library and requests a Museum Pass for immediate use who has not had a library card for more than 90 days, a library card may be issued and the pass checked out IF the patron agrees to leave a refundable deposit of $20.
Reservations for passes may be made in person or by phone and can be made up to sixty days in advance.
Borrowing the Passes:
Museum passes can be picked up at the Kent circulation desk and must be returned to the circulation desk during hours of operation. The passes may NOT be returned in the outside book drop or to another library. Failure to return the pass to the circulation desk will result in a fee of $25. Any loss incurred as a result of improper return will be the responsibility of the borrower. Failure to return museum passes within one week of the due date will result in a block to the borrower’s record which prohibits borrowing of any kind and a full replacement fee for the pass will be charged. The replacement cost can fall between $100-$500 depending upon the museum.
** Museum of Natural History passes are voucher based, unlike the other offered passes. Each family is entitled to two vouchers per cycle year. The vouchers may be used at any time up until the expiration date and do not need to be returned to the library. Each voucher is valid for free admission for one to the Museum and one temporary special exhibition, LeFrak Theater film, Space Show, or Seasonal Live Animal Exhibit.
